Impossible Foods was founded in 2011 by Pat O. Brown, M.D., Ph.D. to find a sustainable way to offer people the meat, dairy, and fish they love and crave -- with plants.
We started with a simple question: “What makes meat taste like meat?” Our team spent years trying to understand everything people love about meat -- from its sizzle and smell to its taste and nutrition. We searched the plant world for specific ingredients that would recreate those experiences but be better for both people and the planet. In 2016, we launched our first product, Impossible™ Beef Made From Plants (also known as Impossible™ Burger) -- meat made from plants, for people who love meat. Today, it’s sold in tens of thousands of restaurants and stores around the world.
